We are continuing right along with the Live Marketing Challenge and in this post we are going over Kat’s marketing video. When you are creating videos they should be designed in a certain format to be able to convert your viewers into callers and customers. In this post I will show you exactly what we did with Kat’s video and how you can do the same thing to get the best marketing video possible. The Purpose Of The Marketing Video These videos are designed to get seen by people searching for a business just like yours. This means when a local resident goes to Google or YouTube to look for a business just like yours, you want your video to come up. When it does, it will appear in the search results with a thumbnail, giving you a 42% high click-thru rate than the standard text result. Having a video on the first page of Google gives you a lot more power than a standard text result because you have that thumbnail. Not only will you get a higher click-thru rate, but you can also control the thumbnail image. This means you can upload your own thumbnail to show off a certain special or deal. Currently there is no other format available on the first page of Google that allows you to do this. In order to do this you need to unlock the ability to input a custom thumbnail and you need to be sure the thumbnail ALWAYS accurately describes the content of your video. If you don’t, you will get a fast click-away rate on your videos and YouTube could delete your account if you use “tricky” or false representations on your thumbnails. Why You Need To Construct The Video Correctly When designing your video you need to keep in mind that it is for the perspective client, NOT you. The biggest mistake I see people make is creating a marketing video talking about themselves and the services they offer. Of course you want to tell them what you can offer but you need to do it in a way that is all about the viewer. You need to let the viewer know how they will benefit from your services. For example, instead of saying “We offer affordable grass cutting services for all lawns” say “YOUR grass will look professionally cut and landscaped and our lowest price guarantee
Read The Rest Of This Post »

The Purpose Of The Marketing Video

When it does, it will appear in the search results with a thumbnail, giving you a 42% high click-thru rate than the standard text result.

Having a video on the first page of Google gives you a lot more power than a standard text result because you have that thumbnail. Not only will you get a higher click-thru rate, but you can also control the thumbnail image. This means you can upload your own thumbnail to show off a certain special or deal. If you don’t, you will get a fast click-away rate on your videos and YouTube could delete your account if you use “tricky” or false representations on your thumbnails.

Why You Need To Construct The Video Correctly

When designing your video you need to keep in mind that it is for the perspective client, NOT you. The biggest mistake I see people make is creating a marketing video talking about themselves and the services they offer. Of course you want to tell them what you can offer but you need to do it in a way that is all about the viewer. You need to let the viewer know how they will benefit from your services.

For example, instead of saying “We offer affordable grass cutting services for all lawns” say “YOUR grass will look professionally cut and landscaped and our lowest price guarantee will save you money.” Instead telling them we are affordable and cut grass, we describe how they will benefit from our services and allow them to visualize our service.

The entire purpose of these videos is to convert into calls and customers and by constructing these videos the right way you can increase the conversions of your videos. From my experience, this is the best format to follow as best you can (Not every video or industry can follow this 100% of the time, but it is a good guideline to keep in mind).

How To Construct Your Local Marketing Video Ads

As I mentioned above you want to construct the ads in a certain format, but it is not always possible. Just use the following info as a guideline to help you construct your videos. The format I like to use is this:

1 – Create Hook Target Pain Points Without Emphasizing Them

In this step you can start off touching on the things that your customers are usually concerned with, but don’t just list them right off the bat. You want to use something like this: “Get your grass professionally cut and landscaped and with our lowest price guarantee you WILL save you money.”

Right off the bat we hit the two paint points everyone has with cutting the grass, they worry about it looking good and how much it is going to cost.

2 – Reassurance and Build Your Credibility

This is where you can mention your business name but also build your credibility. Here is an example: “At Grass Cutters, we have been cutting lawns in Townsville (mentioning your city name is a huge plus for ranking your video and identifing with your customer) for 20 years and our experience has allowed us to offer you the best service possible at the lowest prices. This allows to bring you a no-worry, stress-free service.”

We still haven’t mentioned all our services. The only thing we did was build our credibility by mentioned our years of experience and offering reassurance to our ability by ensuring it will be stress-free and they won’t have to worry about anything. So far, it has been only about them and how they will benefit.

Remember, this is NOT the time to list everything you offer. It is about the customer, once they call you you can mention more services or wait until they are actually a customer to offer other services or up-sells.

3 – Engagement/Identify With The Customer

Now we want to engage and identify with the customer. This allows you to connect with them and their situation. We can do this next: “We work with all yards, all lawns, commercial and residential, homeowners or renters!”

With this one sentence we have connected with just about every type of potential customer who would be searching for a lawn care company.

4 – Benefit/Incentive and Then Call To Action

Now it is time to bring it home! You can use your call to action and adding in an incentive is a huge benefit because it will help you convert a lot better. Let’s do something like this:

“Right now we are offering 10% off ONLY to customers who saw this video. Call us at 888-888-8888 to claim your 10% now and don’t forget to mention you saw this ad!”

Now, the customer feels like they are getting a special deal since they are part of the limited offer and they have the phone number to call all in the last part of the video. This script was short, to the point, hit the pain points, gave you credibility and allowed you to identify with the customer.

Here’s What We Did With Kat’s Video

The first thing we did was make the video, obviously.

How We Made The Video

If you don’t know this by now, we make affordable video ads and rank them for business owners. The format we used with Kat’s video is the same as what we do for all our clients. We take our clients footage (video and photos) and combine it with professional music and a professional voice over to create a professional video ad.

With Kat, she had a videographer come in and film some footage, which she had the videographer send to us. Then we created the video ad per her specifications. But, most of our clients just send us images, which still produces a great looking video ad.

This is one of the most affordable ways to get a professional video ad, if interested you can get more info here.

How Constructed Kat’s Video Script

With Kat’s video we slightly changed the structure of the format I recommended. Since Napa will have tourists and residents look for yoga classes we want to start off targeting both of them. Then we moved into the credibility, then pain points. Here is how I broke down Kat’s script (I feel this format will still work). We just built credibility before pain points, but we had to because we wanted to hook both residents and tourists from the beginning.

Yoga In Napa

1 – Hook Targeting Both Types of Viewers/Identify With Viewer

Kat’s yoga studio in Napa is a cozy and peaceful environment for local residents and Napa Valley visitors to pursue their yoga practice

2 – Reassurance and Build Your Credibility & Target Pain Points Without Emphasizing Them

With over 30 years of experience teaching yoga and fitness, Kat skillfully guides all levels from beginners to advanced students, offering gentle and mixed level classes at a flowing pace accompanied by a soothing musical background.

(Hit the pain points of people worry about advanced ad beginner classes and 30 years experience builds credibility)

3 – Engagement/Identify With The Customer

Each class if focused on body alignment, deep breathing practices, and meditation through movement.

Group classes, private individual sessions, special group gatherings and classes for children are all offered.

(We describe the classes so they can visualize the calm breathing exercises)

4 – Benefit/Incentive and Then Call To Action

Visit yogainnapa.com , for scheduled classes & to reserve your spot. And don’t forget In the summer months, outdoor classes are offered in a beautiful garden setting under the oak & redwood trees.

(We added reserve your spot to make it seem like classes fill up…which they do. Creating that urgency helps convert into calls and sales. We also mentioned the call to action which tells them to visit the website to schedule their class. Ideally, we would have them call and list her phone number but Kat was receiving too many calls before we even started the video marketing.)

Alright, I hope you found this helpful and it gave you a little insight on how to create the best script for local video ads. This pretty much sums up everything we need to set up in the live marketing challenge. Next, we will be moving on to how to rank your videos, directory sites, and website. This is where the fun begins! We will start taking up multiple spots on the first page of Google…how exciting!

I decided to break up the video marketing section into a few parts. The reason I decided to do this is because it will allow me to go a little deeper into each part of local video marketing. They are several types of videos that every business owner should be doing, which we discuss in my free local business video marketing course. It takes more than creating a video showing off your services. In fact, you can cast a net of different types of video ads capturing all sorts of local searches. In this post we will talk about the first type, reviews and testimonials. Almost everyone knows the basic search done in Google, which is what I call the “find a local business search”. This where the searcher is trying to find a local business and they do so by searching for general local keywords. For example, they will search for things like “Los Angeles plumber” or “hair salon in Boston”. We will touch on these types of video ads in the future but there are more types of videos/searches than the “find a local business” video. Types Of Reviews and Testimonial Videos You SHOULD Be Using There is one type of search that most people forget about, and that is the reviews and testimonial search. When someone finds a business they will often look up reviews of that business to make sure they are as good as they seem. This will result in searches containing your business name, such as “Kat’s Yoga Studio reviews” and “testimonials from Kat’s Yoga studio”. Another type of search that will be performed are industry reviews, these are generally a little broader. You will see things like “yoga studio in Napa reviews”. This type of search is for someone looking for the yoga studio in Napa with the best results, and likely has not discovered you yet. And lastly, you will see the searches for testimonials. Although this search is not as common as the last two, it will still happen from time to time. Obviously you will want your videos (showing off your awesome reviews/testimonials) to come up in Google and YouTube when those searches are being done, but you can also put them on Facebook, your website and other social media sites. That is what we did here on Kat’s Yoga website. This will give you more credibility and increase the
Read The Rest Of This Post »

The reason I decided to do this is because it will allow me to go a little deeper into each part of local video marketing. They are several types of videos that every business owner should be doing, which we discuss in my free local business video marketing course. It takes more than creating a video showing off your services. In fact, you can cast a net of different types of video ads capturing all sorts of local searches. In this post we will talk about the first type, reviews and testimonials.

Types Of Reviews and Testimonial Videos You SHOULD Be Using

There is one type of search that most people forget about, and that is the reviews and testimonial search.

This will give you more credibility and increase the chances of converting website visitors into customers.

Why Are These Videos So Important?

The obvious answer is because they get your potential customer to know, like and trust you. It makes the sale a lot easier and builds your credibility. But more importantly, the people who are searching for those terms are ready to buy. That is why they are looking up reviews. This isn’t just the random person looking for businesses in their area. This is a person who is ready to buy and is looking for the highest reviewed company that they can trust. If you can get your awesome review and testimonial videos in front of these searchers, they will convert like crazy.

Even though these types of searches are not being done as much as the “find a local business” searches, they convert a lot better and could bring you more customers. In fact, if you have a “find a local business video” up and they liked what they saw and are still unsure, they will Google your business name and look for reviews. Then your review video will come up, and boom you just got a new customer!

For example, if someone searched for “yoga in napa” and saw our video but was not 100% sold; they will look for reviews on Kat’s Yoga Studio. So, they search “reviews on Kat’s yoga studio” and they will find our video showing our best reviews and testimonials!

How To Construct These Videos

There are two types, the review and the testimonial video. Let’s go into each one.

Review Video

The review video will just show your best reviews and is pretty straight forward. You can have a video showing your customers giving a 1-2 line review and cycle them throughout your video. Or you can use reviews left on Yelp or other review sites and have them cycle in as text on the screen. End each video with your call to action. It’s all pretty straight forward.

Testimonial Video

The testimonial video should always be constructed the correct way and we wrote an entire article showing you how to construct a video testimonial. In this 5 step process you allow the viewer to connect and identify through pain points and then you bring it home by offering the solution and giving yourself a recommendation. These are great for using on your website and getting ranked in Google and YouTube. The great thing about these videos is the fact that they are really easy to rank because the keywords are usually not very competitive.

What We Did For Kat’s Yoga Studio

We ended up doing three testimonial videos all targeting different keywords. Since, I live in Southern California and Kat lives in Napa Valley I was unable to film or direct these testimonials. She ended up having a videographer come in and film a few of them and she used her iPhone for the Gentle Yoga video. I gave as much direction as I could but these testimonials didn’t 100% follow the testimonial outline I gave. They are pretty close and will still be effective, but try to follow the outline as much as possible. REMEMBER – If you film these video testimonials you will need a video release form. If you are a part of the Live Marketing Challenge newsletter, we already emailed you one you can use. If you are not a part of the newsletter you can get one here: http://www.soldwithvideo.com/VRF

NOTE - We used a video intro on these videos. You don’t have to use one, the choice is up to you. But, if you do want to use one you can see how to get one for $20 right here.

Here are the three testimonials we are starting out with (we may be adding more in the future):

Gentle Yoga Reviews in Napa – Kat’s Yoga Studio Review and Testimonials

This testimonial is from a couple in their 90′s and both are students of Kat’s gentle yoga classes. This is a great example because it shows how healthy these two students are in their 90′s and to the viewer this could be a direct correlation to how healthy yoga and Kat’s class can be.

We titled is with our main keyword “Gentle Yoga Classes in Napa” and we also through in “Kat’s Yoga Studio Review”. This way we covered all our bases and could potentially get ranked for the business review searches and industry review searches. For example, “Kat’s gentle yoga reviews” and “gentle yoga reviews in Napa”.

Yoga In Napa Reviews – Kat’s Yoga Classes Reviews and Testimonials

This video is a nice testimonial from a younger gal to show that Kat works with all ages and levels. We titled this video with the main keyword “yoga in Napa reviews” and Kat’s yoga classes reviews”. Notice that in the last video we used “Kat’s yoga studio….” and this one we are using “Kat’s yoga classes…” We are capitalizing as much as we can on having three video and we are using separate sets of keywords. There wouldn’t be a point to title them all the same thing because they would get ranked for all the same keywords.

Yoga Studio In Napa Reviews – Kat’s Yoga Reviews and Testimonial

In this video we want to show that even a 12 year yoga veteran can still find great value in Kat’s yoga studio. We titled this video “Yoga Studio in Napa Reviews” to go after that main keyword. We ended up using “Kat’s Yoga Reviews and Testimonial” without the “studio” or “classes” just to change things up.

How Did We Optimize This?

I optimized these videos following the format I talked about in my local video marketing course (day 2). If you are a part of the Live Marketing Challenge newsletter we emailed you this course. If you are not, you can get access to it here. The only thing I did not do is put the phone number in the title because Kat was receiving phone calls throughout the day (from her website) and email is easier for her to respond to.

Everything else is the same as discussed on day 2. We used the keywords in the title, put the link to the video at the bottom of the description with our main keyword, we inputted the city name in the advanced settings, etc.

Now it’s time to let these rank naturally and move onto the next style of video. This will be the “find a local business” style video and we will do an entire post on this next post. I want to give these videos a little time to settle into the search results and I will send an update on how they are ranking.

The best way to get someone to buy your products or services is to get them to know, like and trust you. If you can gain all three of those, the sale is as easy as 1-2-3. So, how do you get people to know, like, and trust you? Well, there many ways to do this and one of the most powerful ways is through video testimonials. Video testimonials allow you to identify with the potential customer, prove your business can help them get REAL results, and give yourself credibility. Sounds easy right? Well, it is not as easy as it sounds. You need to construct and create your video testimonials in a certain format and if you can nail this format you can gain the “know, like and Trust” almost every time! Be sure to check out our video to recap everything mentioned in this article. Video Testimonials – Watch Now! Resources In This Video: FREE Video Release Form I put together a 5 step guide showing you how to construct your video testimonials, along with a little goodie to help you get started with your video testimonials today! Step 1 – Start With The Fear, Concerns, and Current Results This step is really important because it allows the customer to identify with you or your customer. Chances are the viewer or potential client is experiencing the same fears, concerns, or having the same results and by starting out with those pain points allows the customer to identify with the video. You can also include a personal experience to hit on the emotion of the viewer. An example may be “I was stressed, spending too much time at work and it took a toll on my family”. By starting your video out with those pain points your customer will identify with them right away. These pain points could be price, results, quality, etc. Since every video testimonial should start out with the customer talking about their current results, fears and concerns; the style will depend on your industry and customer. If your customer had a bad experience somewhere else before finding you then you will want them to talk about current results. If they didn’t have any prior bad experiences you will want them to talk about their fears or concerns. Now, if you are in the service industry (like me) you will want them to talk about their current results.
I put together a 5 step guide showing you how to construct your video testimonials, along with a little goodie to help you get started with your video testimonials today!

Step 1 – Start With The Fear, Concerns, and Current Results

This step is really important because it allows the customer to identify with you or your customer.

For my business I might have them start by saying something like “I saw very little results with my video marketing efforts. I put videos up but never saw any ROI on my effort and time. I felt like I was wasting my time. I wasn’t getting any views, conversions or sales. I was spending way too much time focusing on it that I had no free time and it took a toll on my family.” And that would lead us right into the next step.

Before we move on here is another example, if you are a dog groomer you will most likely want them to talk about their concerns. Something like “We were worried about finding the perfect dog groomer because we didn’t want fluffy to be scared or come back with a terrible haircut”. But, if your customer had a terrible experience somewhere else, then you would want them to talk about their current results. This would be something like “Before finding DOG GROOMER we took fluffy to another dog groomer in CITYNAME and they gave her the wrong haircut and it took months to grow back”. NOTE – If you have a customer who did receive a bad experience somewhere else, please refrain from mentioning that business in the video. In my opinion it is bad business etiquette, makes you look bad, and will cause more problems than it is worth. Just mention they went somewhere else first and explain their experience. There is no need to mention the business name.

Step 2 – Results They Got and How It was Working With You

Since we targeted the pain points and identified with the viewer we need to give them the solution and begin building our credibility. This is done by having your client talking about the results they got with you and your business, followed up by how easy it was to work with you.

With my business my client may say something like “But as soon as I began working with Brandon my video marketing sky rocketed. We began getting targeted viewers to our videos, we captured a ton of leads and I saw a 50% revenue increase from our video marketing alone. The best part was that there was very little effort on my part. I told him a little about my business, the keywords I wanted to target and he came back with a plan on the proper keywords and audience and we went with it! We hit the first page of Google and after that, I just received a report of the rankings and numbers. I am now spending more time focusing on the right part of my business and able to spend more time with my family.”

Another example with this would be the dog groomer example. You would want your customer to say something like “DOG GROOMER did an excellent job. I have never seen such beautiful work and it is so reassuring knowing that they offer a cage free environment when they groom their dogs. My dog didn’t even want to leave because when they were done grooming they allow the dogs to play together! And on top of all that the price was one of the most affordable in the area. DOG GROOMER was the most friendly person to work with and they truly love all the dogs that come in.”

By the customer explaining their experience they are reassuring the customer that you will be the solution to their pain points. This also gives you credibility because the customer has nothing to gain from their testimonial. In the viewers eye, the person in the video is the same level as them. The viewer can relate and trusts your customer in the video.

Step 3 – How Did They Feel and Do They Recommend You

This will allow you to tap into the emotions and get your recommendation. Have your customer explain how they felt after working with you and if they recommend you. You can also have them enter a line or two about how it benefited them personally. Example, “I now have more time to focus on my family” or “I can now live a stress free life and I am spending more time with my friends”. This will allow them to connect to your viewer on an emotional level and make the video viewer WANT to work with you.

For example, my customer my say “I have complete confidence in Brandon and I felt a huge sense of relief knowing my video marketing was in his hands. It was like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can re-focus on my business and family. I would only recommend Brandon for your video marketing needs. I can’t recommend him enough”.

With the dog groomer you might see something like “It feels wonderful not having to worry about my dog and knowing DOG GROOMER loves her as much as I do. She is a part of my family and it is such a relief knowing that DOG GROOMER will show her the love she deserves.”

Step 4 – Ask If They Would Like To Add Anything

You can keep or cut this part, but it allows the customer to add anything you may have forgot about or something they forgot about earlier. There isn’t too much to this step, just let them flow and hopefully they give you some good stuff to add.

Step 5 – Have Them Sign A Release!

You need to have them sign a release giving you full rights to the footage, letting you use them in the video, stating they didn’t receive any compensation, etc. If you don’t, you could end up with some legal problems later down the road. Since these are loyal customers you will most likely not have a problem, but you should ALWAYS protect yourself and your business. I would even start your testimonial with you asking them if you have their permission to film them, use the video to promote your business, you have full rights to the content, etc and have them sign a release.

To help you out, I want to give you a download of a free release form you can use. You can access it here. Legal Disclaimer - You should have a lawyer inspect it before using.

A video intro or logo reveal is a great way for you to brand your business and create awesome visual effects in your video. Most people don’t realize you can actually get these done for about $20. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars to have a video editor create one for you, although you can if you want. There is mistake that most people use with video intros and logo reveals and this can lead to losing video viewers and low audience retention rates. In this post, we will show you how to get one for your business and how to use them correctly. Resources Mentioned In This Video: VideoHive.net Fiverr.com How To Use Them Correctly The first 5 to 10 seconds is the most important part of your video because that is where most people will decided to stay on your video or leave. If you don’t get to the point, they will click away and never watch your video. This will leave you with a very low audience retention rate, and this means it will be increasingly hard for you to rank your video. Add Your Hook You need to realize that people are clicking on your video to gain some kind of knowledge. It could be to get an answer to a question, to find a business in their area or to learn how to do something. When they click on your video they want to get that information and be reassured they clicked on the right video. For this reason alone, you never want to start your video with your intro. You need to start with a 1-2 line hook telling them what they will be learning, so they will want to stay and watch. Right after the hook you can start your video intro. This is the format I use on my videos, but before you run off and try this on your videos you should know that not every video needs a logo reveal or video intro. In fact, there are some styles of videos that I would never use a video intro on, lets dive deeper into this. What Videos Do You Use Video Intros On? There is one style of video you should never use your logo reveal or video intro on and that is your business or commercial style videos. These will be the videos you are getting ranked
Read The Rest Of This Post »

A video intro or logo reveal is a great way for you to brand your business and create awesome visual effects in your video. Most people don’t realize you can actually get these done for about $20. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars to have a video editor create one for you, although you can if you want. There is mistake that most people use with video intros and logo reveals and this can lead to losing video viewers and low audience retention rates. In this post, we will show you how to get one for your business and how to use them correctly.

Resources Mentioned In This Video:

Fiverr.com

How To Use Them Correctly

The first 5 to 10 seconds is the most important part of your video because that is where most people will decided to stay on your video or leave. If you don’t get to the point, they will click away and never watch your video. This will leave you with a very low audience retention rate, and this means it will be increasingly hard for you to rank your video.

Add Your Hook

You need to realize that people are clicking on your video to gain some kind of knowledge.

These will be the videos you are getting ranked in Google and YouTube to be seen by people looking for a business just like yours.

The reason you don’t want to use a logo reveal on this style of video is because these are marketing videos and every seconds counts! You need to keep these videos short and to the point so the viewer sees the entire video. This will help you get ranked, they will convert better and get more customers. The video intros may look cool but this style of video is about effectiveness, not looking cool!

The testimonial or review video can use one, but it doesn’t have to. This is completely up to you and how you want to construct your video. Usually the video viewer will know what this video is about and is actively searching for reviews for testimonials on your business. They will either be on your website or search Google and YouTube for reviews and a short video intro will not (usually) cause them to click away. In fact, a good video intro could leave them with a great impression of your business before they even get to the testimonial or review. Using a hook on this video is not always necessary but it could help.

The last style of video is information, How-To, educational, or FAQ video. These are the types of videos that people will be staying on for a few minutes. You should always start with your hook and go into the video intro. I would try to aim and have your hook and video intro be between 15-30 seconds. Remember the shorter the better, your viewers want the content!

How To Get Them Made

This process is very easy and is very inexpensive. To get a video intro you can start at videohive.net and look through the logo displays, video strings, and openers. There will be a ton of styles, colors, lengths, etc to choose from and it may take a while to find the best one. But, it is important you take the time to find the perfect one because this will be the intro you use on all your videos and what will help brand your business. Once you find the perfect one you can purchase it and download the template.

After you download the template go to fiverr.com and do a search for “videohive” or “aftereffects” and you will be able to find a video editor who can take your videohive template, your logo and your information and send you back your professional video intro. The best part about using fiverr.com is that it will only cost you $5!

*NOTE – I was informed by one of my YouTube viewers that you can actually get video templates at fiverr.com for $5. They will also insert your logo and information into that template and this could save you time and money. The only downside to this is that you could end up with the same style video intro as a ton of other people. This could also happen with using videohive.net but I think it would happen more often if you use fiverr for video templates.

So, there you have it! I would love to hear your feedback and see your NEW video intros. Leave me a comment or leave me a video response on YouTube and show off your new video intro!

I wanted to give you another update on the Live Marketing Challenge, so you can see where we are with everything. I am getting really excited and I am sure you are as well because video marketing is next! Right now, we have everything in order and we are getting ready to start producing some videos. I am just waiting on Kat to send me over her footage because she ended up having someone come over and film some nice footage to use in the video. We are just waiting for them to send over the footage so we can begin editing it. As soon as they do, it will be the first thing on my To-Do list so we can get this challenge moving forward! So, for now here is where we stand. Website Visitors In the last progress report, which was only 22 days ago, we received 180 visitors in the last 30 days. I am happy to announce that in the last 30 days from today we hit just above 200! Most of this was an increase from Yelp. But, I will break it down for you. (It was higher than 200 but I took some out after looking at the stats and accounting for people following the challenge) Google – 86 visitors (20% increase!) Direct – 76 (This could be people following the challenge also. In my opinion the biggest thing that gave us the increase was Yelp. Google have a little increase too, but Yelp have us a 100% increase over the last report. All we did was fill that profile out 100% and used our keywords in the descriptions, photos, etc. Once start the more advanced marketing we will hopefully see even better results. To my surprise, the website is still going strong too. We are ranking pretty well in Google without an SEO work, besides the correct titles and keywords used on our pages. This just shows you how picking the less competitive keywords that get the most searches can really help you out. Just remember to give your site time to mature, pick the right keywords and you can see good results. Yelp – 48 (100% increase)
Bing – 19
Yahoo – 13
Yelp Mobile – 2

This just shows you how picking the less competitive keywords that get the most searches can really help you out. Just remember to give your site time to mature, pick the right keywords and you can see good results.

As we move into video marketing we will see an even bigger increase in web traffic and clients. In fact, Kat has already seen a big increase in customers that she now has a waiting list for her group yoga sessions. I’ll cover that next!

Is Kat Actually Getting More Clients?

Heck ya she is! As you know, we ran the coupon, discount or special for a free group yoga session and her group sessions now have a waiting list! She said she has seen approximately a 50% return rate on the people who use the free session, and in my opinion that is awesome! She spent ZERO extra time to give those free sessions. She was already giving that group session and to have a few extra people attend took no extra work on her part. To get extra students coming in and 50% of them turning into repeat customers is awesome!

Good Problem To Have

Since Kat was getting such a great response for her free group session coupon, we ended that coupon because he classes were filling up. She had to create a waiting list and had to give priority to her paying customers (obviously), so a lot of the customers trying to redeem the coupon would have to wait for an opening and often forget about it.

Since Kat’s true passion is doing private sessions we created a new coupon for her private sessions. We put the coupon on her Fan-Gate landing page on Facebook and on her coupons page on her website. Hopefully, we will be able to get more customers redeeming that coupon and her private sessions start filling up.

We are seeing good results some the things we have done already and it will only get better from here! Hopefully we will get the video footage soon and we can get this challenge rockin and rollin!

Some Quotes From Kat on This Challenge and Where Her Clients Came From

“Super great. I am getting more leads!!”

“Another client found me in bing”

“My friend just now did bing as well to show a friend my site
I was number one!!!!!!”

“Another client said: I found you by googling “napa yoga” I believe.”

“2 others said they found me on yelp.com”

Client Who Redeemed FREE class coupon:
“I found you in Google…. I’m looking forward to trying out your class tomorrow at 8:45 am tomorrow” (Ended up being a regular student)

This method of getting more Facebook fans is a great method because it can be incorporated into the marketing you are already doing. If you are already posting videos to YouTube or running ads, this method can easily be implemented. So, let’s dive right into this one. To get all the information in 4 minutes and 40 seconds, just take a peak at our video. Don’t forget to hit the thumbs up button or leave us a comment! Resources Mentioned In This Video: - My Facebook Landing Page!!! - How To Get More Facebook Likes - Run An Ad - How To Set Up A Facebook Landing Page Step 1 – Set Up A Fangate, Landing Page, Or Tab I am not going to spend too much time on this because we have covered it a lot lately. If you want more information you can see this post on how to set up a Facebook landing page. The idea behind this is to set up a page that your fans see and a page your non-fans see. The non-fan page should tell them to hit the Like button in exchange for some kind of incentive. This could be an eBook, a coupon, more information, or whatever you want. It should be something people will actually want. When a non-fan see’s that page they will hit the Like button and when they do the fan page will appear with that incentive. You can check out our landing page/ Fangate at the link in the resources box above. It’s a very easy and effective way to get more Facebook likes. Just be sure the tab to that page is also at the top of your Facebook profile, just like we covered in the video above. Now, that your page is set up you need to drive traffic to that page and I have 4 methods on how to do this. Step 2 – Drive Traffic To Your Fangate or Landing Page Method #1 – Set Up A Facebook Ad You can set up a Facebook ad that is designed to get Likes and get people hit the Like button and not on your ad. Now, that your page is set up you need to drive traffic to that page and I have 4 methods on how to do this.

Step 2 – Drive Traffic To Your Fangate or Landing Page

Method #1 – Set Up A Facebook Ad

You can set up a Facebook ad that is designed to get Likes and get people hit the Like button and not on your ad. But, if they do click on your ad you can get take them to your Fangate or Facebook Landing page. When they land on your page they will likely hit the Like button and you just gained a new fan!

Method #2 – Post A Video On Facebook With A Link To Your Fangate (This is my favorite method)

The video I posted above is a perfect example of how to do this. You can post a video answering a question that is commonly asked within your industry. You want to choose a common question to answer because you know people will be searching for it on YouTube and Google. At the end of that video tell them to click the link below to get more information, get an eBook on the topic you were answering, or some other kind of incentive. That link should link to your Facebook landing page and BOOM you just got a new fan!

If you haven’t watched my video, check it out (on YouTube) above because that is a perfect example of how to do it.

Method #3 – Email Your Email Subscriber List

This is pretty straight forward, but you should email your email list. If someone liked you enough to subscribe to your email newsletter then they will most likely like you enough to like you on Facebook. By offering them an incentive you increase the likelihood they will do it and you will make then excited about it. It’s a win win. You get a new Facebook fan and they get a cool bonus.

Method #4 – Put The Thumbnail At The Top Of Your Profile

You will get people clicking over to your profile and there are things you can do to get people to your profile. You can put a link to your profile on your email signature, on your website, etc. and when they click over you want them to notice the tab to your Fangate. Since, they are on your page why not encourage them to become a fan?

There you have it! My techniques to getting more Facebook Likes by using landing pages and Fangates. I would love to hear your feedback so feel free to leave me a comment below!

Using Facebook allows you to announce specials, deals, your hours, etc and it allows that your announcements and content to be spread virally throughout Facebook. But, the most important reason is because it allows you to easily build an audience of local residents. If you decide to run an ad you can have that ad only appear for people who live in your area and you can even choose whatever demographic you want. That is extremely powerful for almost every local based business. In this post we will go over everything you need to get started with Facebook and see how we did it with Kat’s Yoga Studio. How To Set Up A Facebook Profile There are some rules you need to follow when setting up your Facebook profile and we already wrote up a post on how to set up a Facebook profile, so be sure to check it out before moving on. For this challenge, I want to include a few tips that were not included in “how to set up a Facebook profile” guide. One thing we did not cover is the description you put in the Facebook profile. You want to use your keywords in the description of your Facebook profile. This will help you rank better within Facebook for searches (which doesn’t happen very often but it does from time to time) but also in Google. Yes, your Facebook profile can be ranked in Google! Since Facebook is a huge and powerful site, your business profile can get ranked in Google, just like a directory site would. Your Facebook profile is another online property and I would focus on getting it ranked before your website. By lightly included your keywords in your Facebook profile you can optimize it to get ranked. I would also add images that are re-name with your keywords (example: yoga in napa.jpg) and make a
Read The Rest Of This Post »

There are some rules you need to follow when setting up your Facebook profile and we already wrote up a post on how to set up a Facebook profile, so be sure to check it out before moving on.

I would also add images that are re-name with your keywords (example: yoga in napa.jpg) and make a complete profile. This means you fill out every option they give you and add a decent amount of pics and even video. Lastly, add in your website in the website field because that will be a considered a backlink, which will help it rank better.

What We Did For Yoga In Napa

We completed the Facebook profile and uploaded some photos with our keywords as the files names. We also created a description and lightly used our keywords throughout, but we wrote it so it still made sense. I would never suggest keyword stuffing or just listing keywords in your description. After we completed the description, we went through and fully filled out the rest of the profile.

From a design standpoint, we used Kat in the cover image with a slogan/quote she liked. She wanted her business to branded and perceived as simple and calm and that was our goal with her cover image. Simple, to the point and calm. We avoided using call to actions and company logos or names. UPDATED: You can now use call to actions, contact info and pricing as long as it is under 20% of your overall image. In the profile image we added in the branding and website URL. I recommend you follow the same rules to avoid getting in trouble with Facebook. We also added a landing page which we will get into next!

You can see Kat’s Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/KatsYogaStudio

Facebook Landing Pages

Did you know you can set up pages on your Facebook page, just like you would on your website? Well, guess what? You can and it’s awesome! You can create a page to show your services, videos, opt-in forms, specials, deals, and much more. You can create pages on your Facebook profile for almost everything. You don’t need to have a ton of pages, but 1-3 well designed landing pages can help you convert viewers into customers. You can even run some ads and have them link to these landing pages (which is cheaper than having them go to your website). We already have a post on how to create a Facebook landing page so be sure to check that out to set up your own landing pages.

What We Did For Yoga In Napa

We only set up one landing page for Kat which is a landing page designed to get her more customers and “likes”. We created a special offer for all her Facebook fans, but you can only see the special if you are a Facebook fan. This means all non-fans will see a page that says “Like our page to get our special” and when they hit the “like” button on that page, the special comes up and we just got a new “like”. Now, that they received this special, they will come in to redeem it and now we have a new customer.

The reason we only set up one landing page is because we decided it was better to only give them one option to instead of several. This way they only have one possibility to click on.

Now, that our landing page it set up we can even run an ad to Napa residents and have it click over to that landing page. This way we will be getting new customers in the Napa area and new “likes” from those Napa residents.

How To Get More Facebook Likes

This is a topic that could go on forever because there are a ton of ways to get more Facebook Likes. I plan on coming up with more methods in the future and going over them on my YouTube channel (subscribe link), but for now, here are my how to get more Facebook likes techniques. I will go over the easiest one’s for you to do right now, but be sure to check back over the next few months as I add in more methods.

Here are the easiest ways:
- Add a Facebook sign on your business so people are aware of your profile
- Run an ad (click to see how)
- Ask your email list to like your profile
- Add a Facebook Like Box to your website (click to get a free Like Box)
- Have people check-in when they come in (we go over this next)

How Will I Be Doing This With Kat?

We will probably start a little slow on this and not ramp up too fast. She is already seeing good success with what we have done so far and we want to grow at a pace where she will not be overwhelmed. For right now we will ask her current clients to “like” her page just so we can stay in contact with them and add a Like Box to the website. But, when we do go full force we will probably start by running an ad to the landing page and offer a new customer discount. Then move onto the check-in technique, which we will go over next.

Why You Should Get People To Check In

When you have a business profile up you can get your customers to “check-in” when they come into your business. This is done through Facebook’s mobile app, based on your GPS location. This means they have to actually be at your business to check-in. So, businesses that do not have an actual building or store front may not be able to use this technique. But, if you do have a storefront or actual location I would recommend you use this technique.

When customers come in you can ask them to “check-in” on Facebook. If you ask, some will and some won’t. But, if you offer them a “daily surprise” if they do, almost all of them will do it. You don’t even need to ask them, just put up a sign that tells them to do it to get a surprise. Most of them will do it, show you they did it and ask for the surprise. I would make sure the surprise is of value to them so they don’t bad talk you on Facebook, in fact if you make that surprise super awesome, they will probably tell people about it and get more people into your business.

When they check-in it is broacasted on their profile that they checked in to your business. And, if any of their friends are near your business when they check-in they will be notified that their friend is at your business. This means you could be getting their friends to come into your business too! So, you end up getting free advertising on their Facebook profile, but you also get the message broadcasted to their friends who are near your business. It is pretty dang awesome.

Here’s An Example Of How It Works

I went wine tasting with my wife and our friends a few weekends ago. Behind the counter was a sign that said “Check-In on Facebook and get our daily surprise”. Naturally, we all checked-in and showed the pourer that we did, and she ended up giving all of us a free glass of their new champagne. This was very smart on their end; I was very impressed with their strategy.

When we checked-in it was broadcasted to all of our Facebook pages that we were at that winery (with a link to their Facebook profile). Now any one of our friends that were near that winery were notified that we were there, which could encourage people to stop by. This means they just got free advertising from us on Facebook. But, the smartest thing they did was make their “daily surprise” a free glass of their new champagne…this is genius. When you go wine tasting you usually end up buying a bottle or two (or 10 haha!) of your favorite wine. That is the whole underlying reason you go wine tasting (or why they offer it). Since, they gave us a free glass of that champagne they are allowing us to taste it for free, which puts us in a good mood and greatly increases the chances we will buy a bottle of it. This means we are advertising them on Facebook and possibly buying their product. It’s a great strategy!

If you are in the product business I would totally recommend you doing this, because you could technically get someone to pay to advertise your business to their friends. It’s a marketing technique that has never been possible before (as far as I am aware). I will try to figure out a way to incorporate this into Kat’s yoga studio and if I do I will go over it in this challenge.

Thanks everyone for following this challenge and I am sure there will be a few questions from this update. So, be sure to ask the questions in the comment field below and I will answer them as soon as I can!

Today we are doing the first recap and progress report of the live marketing challenge. I just wanted to show you guys what kind of stats we were able to get over the past month from the work we have done with Kat’s Yoga Studio. I am pretty happy…actually very very happy with the results we have gotten because we haven’t even got to the ranking process or video marketing yet. Let’s check it out. Yelp Progress I am surprised and impressed with how well we are doing within Yelp’s site. We only set up the profile a few weeks ago and it isn’t even 100% complete yet. Right now if you go to Yelp and do a search for yoga studios in Napa we were coming up #2, but have since dropped back to #7. We are still on the first page of Yelp for numerous yoga terms. Once we finish up the profile to be 100% complete I am confident we will move back up to 1 or 2 (especially when we start really optimizing it). There are a few reasons why I think we dropped back from 2 to 7. One, we don’t have a physical address in the profile because it is a home studio. I know with Google this is a big deal and it may also be with Yelp. I will have to monitor it, but if done right, we can easily get back up there. The second reason is because the profile isn’t even done yet. We still need to add in 10 pictures, a full description with our keywords, etc. Once we do that we will begin getting that baby back up there! Website Stats Before I begin I want to remind you we have done zero backlink work to get this website ranked. The only thing I did was optimize the site for keywords that were not very competitive, which we covered in our keyword research post. In the last 30 days, here are the stats we have received. Unique Website Visitors: 180 (this is after taking out the traffic sent from my site) Where Did Those Visitors Come From? Google – 68 unique visitors found us on Google. Google was unable to tell me what keywords were used on 37 of those people but the remaining 51 people found the site by search Google for 17 different keywords. All these
Read The Rest Of This Post »

Yelp Progress

I am surprised and impressed with how well we are doing within Yelp’s site. We only set up the profile a few weeks ago and it isn’t even 100% complete yet. Right now if you go to Yelp and do a search for yoga studios in Napa we were coming up #2, but have since dropped back to #7.

Website Stats

Before I begin I want to remind you we have done zero backlink work to get this website ranked. The only thing I did was optimize the site for keywords that were not very competitive, which we covered in our keyword research post.

In the last 30 days, here are the stats we have received.

Unique Website Visitors: 180 (this is after taking out the traffic sent from my site)

Where Did Those Visitors Come From?

Google – 68 unique visitors found us on Google. Google was unable to tell me what keywords were used on 37 of those people but the remaining 51 people found the site by search Google for 17 different keywords. All these keywords, which you can see below, are based on the keywords I choose when doing keyword research. And on average, they spent 3 minutes and 38 seconds and visited 4.74 different pages on the site, which is huge!

There is one point I want to make, out of 180 people only 68 found us using Google. That is only 37% of our traffic! This just proves my point that you shouldn’t focus 100% of your efforts on getting ranked in Google. Yea, it helps but there are plenty of other ways to get seen online. By all means, using Google but don’t focus ALL your time on it.

Direct – 58 people came directly to the site. This means they actually typed in www.YogaInNapa.com and went to the site. This could be current customers, people who heard of the site or the business, past customers, people who saw a flyer, or even people following this challenge. I don’t want to spend too much on these 58 people because I don’t have the ability to track who they are, but I didn’t want to remove them from our stats either since I don’t know who they are.

Yahoo – 19 people came from Yahoo and they spent an average of 4 minutes and 50 seconds on the site and 6.53 pages! Although Google gave us a lot more visitors, Yahoo gave us a better interaction on our site. Those visitors found us using 10 different keywords in Yahoo.

Bing – 5 people found us using Bing and they spent 58 seconds on the site and visited 5 pages on average. This isn’t enough data to make any assumptions but it seems like half of them interacted with the site pretty well and some just clicked away making the stats out of whack. But, they found us using 3 different keywords.

Yelp – 24 people visited our site from Yelp! In 3 weeks we had 24 people check out our website after viewing our Yelp page. According to Yelp’s stats our profile was viewed 30 times and 24 of them clicked over to our website. That is an unbelievable conversion rate. I am actually quite impressed with how many people are using Yelp to find yoga studios in Napa. I was not excepting to get this much traffic from Yelp in 3 weeks.

The rest of the people came from various search engines like Ask.com, Comcast and other smaller ones.

What’s Next?

I want to 100% complete the other profiles (Yahoo and Bing) and get them up but also move onto Facebook and video marketing. Most people don’t know this, but you can actually get your Facebook profile ranked in Google and use it with video marketing. We will start getting into that and video marketing in the next few weeks.

What Is Viral Marketing?

How I Did This With My Own Video and Site

I have implemented this technique on 4 of my videos in the past two months. Since then I have gained almost 200 email subscribers, almost 150 Facebook shares, 29 twitter shares, and 25 Google+ shares. This is only from 4 videos and 2 of those videos haven’t been ranked yet (80% of those stats came from 2 videos). So, here’s how you do it!

Step 1 – Create A Video With A Call To Action and Put It On YouTube

Create an entertaining and content packed video that keeps people’s attention until the end. You can give them some kind of bonus or something to look forward to in your video. For example, tell them you have a bonus for them at the end or if you are making a video about 3 ways to get more Facebook likes, tell them in the beginning that the most powerful method is at the end of the video. This way they are inclined to stay to the end. Make sure your video is to the point and you don’t ramble. Immediately after you give the last method, tell them about your bonus and that they have to click over to get that bonus or incentive.

Here’s how I did it. I created a video announcing the Live Marketing Challenge and at the end of the video I had them click over to get a few bonuses and a chance to win FREE coaching from me. Looking back at it now, I should have announced the bonuses earlier or mentioned they were coming up so more people would have stayed to the end. But, it was still effective. Near the end of the video, I tell them to click over to get those bonuses. You can watch the video here, if you haven’t see it yet.

Step 2 – Create A Landing Page To Capture Email Subscribers

This method is not mandatory, but if you want to collect email subscribers and get your video to spread virally you will need to do this step. The only problem is you will need to create a second bonus to offer after they subscribe. I will get into that below.

At this stage you need to offer them the incentive or bonus you made in the video. But, the only way they should be able to access it should by submitting their name and email address.

Here’s how I did it. In my video I offered them a few bonuses and told them they can access them at this page: http://www.soldwithvideo.com/LLOC

On this page I have an opt-in form for them to subscribe. I put in an “un-listed” video explaining what they need to do to help explain what is going on. As soon as they opt-in I have my email auto-responder send them all the bonuses I offered. They are then re-directed to my confirmation/congrats page, which is where the viral magic happens.

Step 3 – Create A Page Where Your Video Can Be Shared (Where The Viral Magic Happens)

This step is where your video will spread virally. If you skip step 2, this will be the page you make your first offer for the bonus or incentive you made in your video. This means if you don’t want to collect email addresses then you tell them to go directly to this page in your video. If you did step 2 then this is the page they will be re-directed to and where you will make your second bonus or incentive offer.

This page will have the Viral Lock script installed. When you set it up you will need to choose which sharing options you want to use. You can choose to have all three (Facebook, Twitter, or Google+), just one or just two of them. You can even put in a custom message in the Twitter field (I like to include my twitter handle @soldwithvideo so I can get notified when it is shared on twitter). You will also need to choose which URL gets shared. This means you can custom choose which URL gets shared when then hit the share button. I like to have my original video (video from step1) shared, which is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLoGD0OGqes. This way their friends will see my original video that shows them the incentive, which bring them to my email subscriber page, which then brings them to this page, which gets them to share the original video with their friends and the process starts all over again with their friends. Here is a graphic to help you understand:

Here’s how I did it. After they opt-in to my email form they are re-directed to my confirmation or congrats page, which you can see here. On this page I tell them thanks for signing up and I give them the incentive or bonus. In this case, I tell them it was emailed to them. But, I quickly tell them I have an extra bonus for them if they share my original video. What I did here, was offer them a free download to my eBook “Live Video Marketing Challenge” if they hit the share buttons below. Once they hit the share buttons a download link is instantly available. Now, all of their friends see my original video and the whole process starts over again. In this example, I was able to get 1200 video videos, 67 Facebook shares, 19 Twitter shares, and 12 Google+ shares and it slowly grows every week. If you set it up correctly it will continue to grow as long as your bonuses or incentives are relevant and of value.

There are a lot of ways to do this, and you can get as creative as you want in order to maximize your viral and lead capturing potential. I hope this helps you get your content to spread virally and grow your business.
